Located on Hong Kong Island’s prestigious waterfront and boasting glamorous harbour views, Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited’s (SHKP) latest integrated landmark project, the first phase of the flagship shopping complex Harbour North, namely Harbour North@VIC, and the new lifestyle hotel Hotel VIC, joined together to conduct an official grand opening today.

To celebrate the grand opening of the hotel and the first phase of the shopping complex, Ms Fiona Chung, General Manager – Leasing Department, SHKP, and Mr Byron Ko, General Manager, Hotel VIC on the Harbour, today co-hosted the “Harbour North@VIC x Hotel VIC Grand Opening Ceremony” and announced details of the first-of-its-kind Stay & Shop initiative which offers customers and hotel guests a unique experience of “one identity with double rewards”. This new initiative will take advantage of the retail and hotel alliance to boost sales and traffic during the Christmas shopping season.

The 67,500-square-foot Harbour North@VIC mall and the 665-room Hotel VIC together comprise a brand new landmark on Hong Kong Island that combines shopping with hotel facilities, providing an extraordinary one-stop destination for shopping, entertainment and leisure activities tailored for the city’s discerning customers. With the geographical advantage of being adjacent to Victoria Harbour and its glamorous sea views, it is a perfect setting for an exceptional shopping and leisure experience.

A total investment of HK$3.2 billion with 160 shops to be opened in three phases

The retail section of Harbour North has a gross floor area of approximately 220,000 square feet. The shopping complex is being developed and will be launched in three phases with a total of 160 shops ranging from 150 square feet to 29,000 square feet. The whole shopping complex comprises a total investment of HK$3.2 billion. The first phase that opened today, Harbour North @VIC, is located on the lower floors of Hotel VIC. The five storeys of retail and dining areas have a gross floor area of about 67,500 square feet, delivering 60 retail spaces including over 50 retail outlets and 8 sea view restaurants. The occupancy rate has now reached 90%.

8 sea view restaurants and nearly 20 celebrated beauty and skincare brands under one roof

Enjoying the advantage of its waterfront location, the new shopping arcade offers 8 sea view restaurants on the 2nd, 3rd and 5th floors, debuting 6 outlets for the first time in Hong Kong including a high-end Cantonese restaurant and an authentic Japanese restaurant. With the concept of a modern lifestyle, the retail sector has attracted nearly 20 acclaimed skincare and beauty brands, as well as other tenants featuring fashion, jewellery, travel and electronic products, creating a unique harbourfront shopping and leisure experience that injects new energy into the North Point community.

Phase 2 will be launched in fourth quarter of 2019 with total estimated annual rental income to reach HK$170 million

Harbour North’s phase 2 is scheduled to be opened in the fourth quarter of 2019. Negotiations with tenants are now in progress. The second phase will cover a 20,000-square-foot al fresco seaside dining area, accounting for 15% of the gross floor area. After the launch, about 70,000 to 80,000 visitors are expected on weekdays, peaking at 90,000 to 100,000 visitors on weekends and holidays. Turnover is expected to reach HK$600 to $1,000 per square foot. Rents will range from HK$60 to HK$300 per square foot, with annual rental income estimated to reach HK$170 million after the commencement of all 3 phases.

A seafront promenade combined with public leisure spaces, creating a new one-stop “Stay & Shop” luxury lifestyle experience

Harbour North@VIC and Hotel VIC are only a short walk from North Point MTR station exit A1. Both are perfectly located on the transportation hub of Hong Kong Island with the geographical advantage of being adjacent to Victoria Harbour and waterfront green spaces. The opening of the hotel and its own dining outlets works synergistically with the shopping mall’s retail and dining tenants to attract nearby residents, office executives and tourists by offering a unique one-stop “Stay & Shop” luxury lifestyle experience.

Unique harbourfront shopping and leisure experiences attract Island East residents and office executives

“Harbour North is committed to providing an enjoyable outdoor leisure park for both residents and visitors. The whole project includes a 420-metre waterfront promenade, nearly 160,000 square feet of public open green spaces, and a large open-air plaza to alleviate the shortage of leisure facilities in North Point. The first phase, Harbour North@VIC, is now open and provides a 30,000-square-foot waterfront park with elaborately designed greening elements. The park is already attracting many visitors, adding value to the community and preserving the authentic character of North Point,” said Ms Fiona Chung, General Manager – Leasing Department, SHKP. "Harbour North has been developed based on a modern lifestyle concept. This unique development enjoys the distinct advantage of bordering Victoria Harbour and provides a number of sea view restaurants and ultra-popular merchants. Its distinctive seaside shopping and leisure experience will attract Island East office executives, residents in the area and tourists staying in the neighbouring hotel.”

The only rooftop bar in the area and Hong Kong’s first hotel to provide a self-service check-in counter

Designed as twin towers, Hotel VIC’s 665 rooms and suites offer stunning views of Victoria Harbour. Cruise, the high-end restaurant on the top floor boasts the only rooftop bar in the area. Together with an al fresco dining space, it is a perfect setting for a relaxing dining experience. For leisure facilities, the hotel features a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool, jet pool and an innovative fitness centre. In addition to a sauna, steam bath and a 24-hour gym, the fitness centre includes a special VR flying simulation fitness machine to make exercise fun and effective.

In addition, the hotel utilises smart technology to enhance the total guest experience and is also the first hotel in Hong Kong to provide a self-service check-in counter. From reservation and check-in to check-out, all hotel services can be completed without hassle using a dedicated smartphone app. The entire hotel project has a total investment of nearly HK$4.5 billion, bringing together elegant hardware (architecture and design) and advanced software (services and facilities) with the added advantage of priceless panoramic harbour views.

“As the latest hotel project from Sun Hung Kai Properties, Hotel VIC fully demonstrates its exclusive style, leading guests into a journey of Hong Kong’s unique lifestyle. Since our soft launch in July, the occupancy rate has reached over 90% in the month of November. We believe the opening of the shopping arcade in December peak season will create a collaborative effect, and consequently we expect the booking and occupancy rates during the Christmas and New Year period will reach 100%. We also expect a full house for our hotel buffets, Christmas special Snoopy tea set and our bar and restaurant on twenty-third floor. The prosperity of both the hotel and the shopping arcade will inject more economic power into North Point,” said Mr Byron Ko, General Manager, Hotel VIC on the Harbour.

Shared benefits for hotel guests and shoppers
“Stay & Shop” initiative creates synergy to boost traffic during Christmas

To celebrate the opening of Harbour North@VIC and Hotel VIC, both sectors have jointly presented a unique "Stay & Shop" crossover initiative for both hotel guests and shoppers to share the related benefits. Shoppers who spend HK$500 or above on a single receipt can enjoy a 20% discount for the buffet dinner at The Farmhouse at Hotel VIC, plus a free cocktail upon patronage at CRUISE, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and bar within designated period. In addition, hotel guests during Christmas holiday will receive a series of "Harbour North x Hotel VIC" Christmas rewards including a free welcome gift and shopping coupons, which enable them to redeem Snoopy™ limited edition gifts in the mall and enjoy free gifts or shopping discounts in designated shops. Fully utilising the advantages of such an alliance, this unique “Stay & Shop” concept presents shoppers and hotel guests with a supreme benefit of "one identity with double rewards", and is expected to boost visitor traffic and turnover of both the shopping arcade and the hotel during the Christmas season.
